SHOP HOURS.
PETITION TO ARBITRATION COURT. (PB»3 3 . ASSOCIATION TKLtO&tX.) ' DUNBDIN, May 12. The Arbitration Court was occupied during the day hearing 89 applications from small shopkeepers for exemption from the hours clause of.the Dunedin Grocers' Award. , A petition bearing 1378 names was handed in on behalf of the recently formed Small Shopkeepers' Association. ' ' . ~, ','-.., Mr Justice Frazer explained the legal position of the awards and .the principle of exemption at length, and, stated that it was the desire of the Court to protect small suburban businesses from the unfair competition of "mosquito" shops.
