A definite decision to sell Farnham Park—with the exception of the portion immediately around the castle—has been taken by "the committee considering the division of the Diocese of Winchester. The Manor of Farnham has belonged to the Sec of Winchester since A.D. 806, when King Ethclwald granted it to St. Swithin. Its moated castle — not to be sold —dates from the 12th century, but has been rebuilt more than once. It was twice .captured during tho Civil War. " ,' ■
