CANTERBURY COLLEGE.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS. ji r .H. D. Acland (chairman) presided over yesterday's meeting of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College, others present being Mrs W. H. Clark, Miss E. A. Chaplin, Dr. Chas. Chilton, Dr. J. Hight, Dr. A. J. JDrchard, Colonel the Hon. G. J. Smith, Messrs L. M. Isitt, M.P., E. J. Howard, M.P., J. J. Dougall, C. T. Aschman, A. K Flower, J. K. Cuningham, J. Deans, W. Lrock and L. B. Wood.

The following amendment to clause 3, College Regulation 111., recommended by the College Committee, so as to allow of the addition to the Faculty of Engineering of certain practising engineers, was adopted: "Each faculty shall consist of all members of the College staff who teach any subject, of that faculty, and are- nominated by the Professorial Board, provided that the faculty ol engineering shall have tho right to appoint one of its members not already on the faculty oi science as its representative of that faculty, and also shall have the right to nominate annually to its membership prominent members of the engineering profession, and provided also that the Rector shall be a member ex officio of all faculties.

The Registrar (Mr L. A. Stringer) reported that he had been advised by the Director of Education (Mr Jno. S. Caughley) that a Royal Commission consisting of Sir Harry Rudolf Reichel, principal of the University of Wales (chairman), and Mr Frank Tate, Director of Education (Victoria) had been appointed for the purpose of enqn/ring into matters connected with University education in New Zealand. The Commission would commence its sittings about June 23rd. The matter was referred to the College Committee.
