♦ RETURN OFJS.Z. CREW. (PfiESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) "WELLINGTON, April 1. 'l'lic New Zealand cight-oared crew and the sculior returned by the Ulimaroa to-day, and were welcomed by the Council of the Xcw Zealand Hewing Association. Tho crew disband? to-day, when the Marlborough member 3 leave by the Arahura, and the southern members by the Wshine, and the northern members by the Alain Trunk express. In replying to the -welcome, Mr G. Lauclilan, manager, said that the visit had put New Zealand on the map a3 far as rowing v. as concerned in Australia. He stated that arrangements would be discussed nt an interstate conference in Australia this month, by which it was hoped tho winners of tho inter-Stale Eights would compete against Xew Zealand every two years, the race taking place alternately in each country. Failing that, the New South Wale 3 Association v ould be always glad to extend or accept an invitation from New Zealand. "I and the leet of the crerw hava come back convinced that in New Zealand we should endeavour la encourage cight-oared rowing."
