OXFORD UNIVERSITY.
VISITING DEBATERS. The Oxford University debating toam,consisting of Messrs ,T. D. Woodruff, M. C. Hollis, and Malcolm Mcc Donald, which is to debate with a Canterbury College team to-morrow r-nd Wednesday at the Chor/il Hall, will arrive in Christchurch to-morrow morning. They, will be met at tho train by the students, and will be the guests of .tho Mayoress for morning tea. At noon, they will bo given a civic reception by the Mayor and Councillors at the Council Chambers. The first debate will be in the evening. The subject will be: "Is the Labour Government Competent to Govern?'' Messrs Mac Donald, C. E. Beeby (Canterbury), and A. C. Brassington (Canterbury) will support the motion, and Messrs Hollis, Woodruff, •and A. L. Haslam (Canterbury) will oppose 'ho motion. On Wednesday evening the debate will bo on the subject of "Necessity for the Singaporo Base." Messrs MauDonaid, Boeby, and Brassington will oppose the motion, the other team taking the affirmative.
On Wednesday morning tho visitors will be taken for a motor drive, ami are invited to attend tho College athletic championships in tho afternoon. On Thursday morning they leave for Dunedin.
