Tho Constantinople correspondent of "The Times" says that tho Government has extended for a month martial law over all areas affected by tho Kurdish revolt. Tho General Staff has issued a manifesto to tho inhabitants in these areas, warning them of th© imminence of suppressive action on a largo scale against the insurgents.
Tho robbers who attacked the motor convoy on tho Syrian desert, killing the wife of the l'Vcncli Vice-Consul at Bagdad, have been arrested 200 miles from the scene of the outrage.
All the victims of the level-crossing accident at Highett, ncaa - Melbourne, have now been identified. They include Edward Shackloek and his wife of Sandringham, not Shatlock as previously cabled. This couplo had taken the place of Mr Merrick, a journalist, and his wife, who were unable to make the journey.
Zerdec.hcne, tlic self-styled Emir of Kurdcstan, will not be allowed to land in the United States if returned by tiie British Immigration Department, the authorities in Washington holding that his fate rests with the British Government and the steamship company which originally brought him to the United States as a ruling prince, a position which the Labour Department maintains that he docs not hold.
Albert Barter was acquitted of the murder of Mrs Dawson at Melbourne on November 27th.
