THE AMERICAN FLEET.

Mr H. P. Bridge, American Consular Agent in Christchureh, is advised that the American Fleet to visit New Zealand and Australia consists of the following vessels: —One cruiser (the Fleet flagship of the Commander-in-Chief); a division of light cruisers; three battleship divisions; two destroyer squadrons, with a light cruiser as flagship; eleven auxiliaries. The Fleet will be divided into two sections —one visiting Melbourne and Wellington, and the other Sydney and Auckland. The section which will be in Wellington from about August Bth to 22nd, will consist of: —A cruiser (the Fleet flagship, with the Commander-in-Chief); a division of three battleships; a division of four light cruisers; two squadrons of destroyers (25 to 30), with a light cruiser as flagship.

Tho section which will be in Auckland betwocn about August 7th and 24th will consist of a battleship as flagship of the Commander-in-Chief of the Battle Fleet, and two divisions of three battleships each —seven ships in all. It is probable that vessels will be detailed to visit Lyttelton and Dunedin, by the Commander-in-Chief.
