' WELLINGTON, March 26. , The Dominion Conference of radio societies' representatives was held- here at the suggestion of the New Zealand Radio Institute of Christchurch. ;Mr L. Slade (Christchurch), who presided, suggested that all radio societies should af-. filiate with the Institute. Mr M&rklew, thp Institute delegate, in replying to a question, said that no society was affiliated with the Institute it present. "Delegates then questioned the Institute's right to nominate a member of the proposed Broadcast .Control Board, .since the Institute, whose membership was only seven, did not provide for broadcast listeners, who now number 7000 in the Dominion, whereof there are 1100 in Auckland who were not represented at the conference. Mr Slade, -who. i 3 a member of both the Institute and the Christchurch Radio Society, via nominated as broadcast listeners' representative on the Board. As, however, th« arrangement was not considered satisfactory, the nomination was only good for a month.
Tie delegates - subsequently discussed the formation of a new broadcasting company, but the matter is at present •in abeyance pending the completion of., certain formalities. , •It was stated it was impossible to say when the first high power broadcast'station was likely to be in operation.
