NEW GROUNDS PROPOSED.
The Allenten Sporta Club met lart evenin?, the president, ilr D. A. Morgan, being in tho chair. Two new members were elected.
It was decided to accept the further offer of Buxton's trustees to purchase an adjoinin" three-quarter acre at the same prica per aero aa that paid for tho previous two acres, namely on terms requiring no further deposit. ... •» The matter of laying out the grpunu with tho various lawns to tb.o best advantage was described by Mr A. W. BuxU>n, who submitted plans providing (or fivo tennis courts, two croquet lawns, one (unsized bowling green whilo two pavilions were also allowed for. To lay tho grounds out satisfactorily, Mr Buxton advocated fho purchase of au additional twenty feet of land on tho left-hand side of tho section. Provided tho work was commenced immediately, the bowling green would bo ready for use two seasons hence, whilo the tennis courts would be comploted by tho end of December. Tho plans took jn tho additional threequarter acre, which it was dooided to purchase. Tho estimated cost of the work without the pavilions or netting _ Jan into four figures, which sum tho chairman- considered beyond the club in it? present financial position, but ho thought a, portion of tho pl*n allowing for four tenniß courts, one of which could bo used as a croquet and a bowling green, could be laid down at Mr Button's figure, approximately £670. After a great deal of discussion, jt was decided to accept Mr Buxton's price tor tho work mentioned by the chairman. It was resolved that the club colours ho bluo and grey.
