What is reported to be the biggest shark on record was captured off .Russell, Bay of Islands, last week, when Mr Andreas, an expert deep-sea fisherman, Sydney, landed a five hundred and fifty-eight pounder. The big fish put up a great fight, it taking over four hours to get him within striking distance of the harpoon. A Bay of Islands correspondent states: "We have now two world *s records—a swordfish 5271b and a mako 5581b. Both were officially weighed by two members of the committee. From January sth to March 6th, thirtysix swordfish have been caught weighing 96961b, and sixteen mako sharks weighing 36101b; over five ton of fish, t a record," • • ,
