FIRES.
'A nine-roomed house at ; Little Eaksiia, owned and occupied by. Mr J. Kelleber, and a whafe occupied by Mr Kelleber's teamster', were completely destroyed by fire last week-end; The owner 'was" out of the house for about fifteen minutes, and during his. absence the outbreak started, but was noticed too late to bo checked. The whole of the ■ furniture was lost. The house, whare, .stables and other out--buildings' were insured for £900,' and the furniture ; and - effects for • £6OO.

PAHIATTTA, February 17.. A. fire shortly after one o'clock this morning destroyed the premises' and contents of George Oxley, jeweller; B. S. H. SelwynDawe, chemist and optician ; : :McCormick and Pilkington, cycle agents. The block was owned by Mr Oxley. The insurances are:—Oxley's buildings £I6OO, stock £2250 in the New Zealand Office; I>awe £575 on the building and £260 on the stock, Mc{Cqrrnick and'Pilkington,. £SOO. Thirteen motor cycles and side-cars were destroyed. .
