SUMNER BEAUTIFYING ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Sumner Beach Improvement and Beautifying Association was held in the Council Chambers on Friday evening, the president, Mr T. B. Boulton, in the chair. Correspondence was received from the Oxford Benevolent and Improvement League, which asked to be supplied with information regarding the management and organisation of galas. The .secretary, Mr H. C. Jones, was asked to supply theinformation. The Sumner Volunteer Fire Brigade wrote asking for financial assistance to help to entertain the visiting firemen at the end of March. The sum of £5 5s was voted. The treasurer reported that there was a credit balance of £95. The report upon the New Year dance showed that certain unexpected expenses bsd been met and that there was a ba!anc» «f £9. The concert in the Town Hall which took the place of the organised out-of-door concert, netted J6lO The meeting . decided to consider a proposal for building kerbings round the peaestale of the Peace Memorial lamps, at a later date.
