Playing at Sydenham Park, Gre-ens batted first against Old Boys and mado 114. G. Kobcrtson played a. "stylish innings tor 49. and Grose gavo a bright display for 40. rurther matches in the Ashburton Cricket Associations competitions were commenced in the county on Saturday afternoon, in fine- weather. In the second grade, there were three matches, namely, Ashburton v. Tmwald at Tinwald, Methven and Lauriston at Methven, St. Stephen's v. High ochool on tho top ground. In the first grade match between Ashburton and Tinwald, Ashburton went in first and compiled 08 (McGregor 23). Tinwald then went in and knocked up 160 (A. Bcntiey 22, Tasker 21, Gourley 31, Milliclnrap 10). Ashburt-.n went in again and made »5 for four wiokets (C. Brady 21, C. V. McNicoll 9, J. D. Nicccll not out 18, H. N. Lewis not out 2£}.
