He pave two possible cbancoa behind the wicket. Hoiland *as unbeaten until the last man went in, when he was clean bowjed by Hawkes for -IS. Ilia partnership with Orr produced 53 runs in about as many minute*. The wicket appeared to be faster than Wanganui were u*<?d to. Hawkes secured six wickets for 52. The Nelson fielding was first-class. At the end of the day's p.ay Nelson had lost three wickets for 109. The first wicket put on 52 before Saxon played on. Tho next two wickets went cheaply, but Ncale and Langbein played out time. The scoring was slow for tho first hour's play, *'Ut brightened up in the closing stages, The Wanganui fielding was good. TO-DAY'S SEMI-FINALS
Today's matches in the Canterbury Cricket Association's Senior Championship will be of raoro than usual interest, as the championship this season is being decided on u principle different from that usually followed. The four leading teams will engage in a semi-final round, and the two winners will play off for the championship. In the semi-final round, commencing to-day, Sydenham will meet Linwoocl at Lancaster Park and West Christchurch and Kast Christchurch will try conclusions at Hagley Park. In addition to these two matches, lticcarton and St. Albans will meet* at Hacley Park. CANTERBURY V. VICTORIA. The following have been selected to attend practices in view of. the match against Victoria on the 27th inst. Practice will commence neit week. North Otago followed on, and compiled 226 (Uttley 51, HargreaTes 41, Zimmerman 32, Jecooa 24). Otago knocked up the necessary runs without loss of a wicket (Holdcn 13 not out, Bardsley 18 not out).
