POWER BOARD.

SPRINGS-ELLESMERE. The monthly meeting of the SpringsEllesmere Electric Power Board was held at Leeflton en Monday evening, the following mcmbeM being .present:—Messrs J. Cunningham (chairman), J. W. Kime, E. H. Howell, J. S. Simpson, J. A. Henley, A. E. Langdglo Hunt, J. W. Kingan. G. Maginnejs, R. T. McMillan, J. C. Pree, and H. Keave. Regarding the procuring of apparatus for dehydrating oil, the engineer said that the necessary plant -would cost S7O Mr Maginneas suggested that arrangements might be niada with the Public Works Department to do tho work, thus saving the outlay on plant. In such case, it would be necessary to have a duplicate supply of oil. It was agreed that the engineer should make further enquiries and report again at next meeting. Mr Maginness commented upon tho very satisfactory .way i/i which the Templotou consumers had paid their occounts for current. Regarding the Paparu.v reticulation, Mr Maginness suggested that the Board should endeavour as far as possible to run the line to the dead end of ft road, provided the residents were, prepared to give a sufficient guarantee. A complaint wa3 received from a Teniploton consumer regarding the charges made for current, and tho secretary waa instructed to reply that the rates chaTgcd were according to schedule. . The Hutt Vnlley Electric Power Board asked assistance in an agitation to have a regulation relating to the height of service lines on consumers' premises amended. The minimum height from the ground siupulated for liouse connexions was 14 feet; and it was desired to have it reduced to I*3 feet to meet the case of low bungalow residences. In such cases special fitting* «»« to be nrovided at present to givq 14 feet between" thn line and tho ground. The Board agreed with the alteration suggested in a remit to be submitted to the electrical engineers' conference, the minimum height, at house connexions to bo 12 feet, and rising to 14 feet at a distance of 10 feet from the residence. A committee was appointed to consider a financial adjustment between tho Paparua area and the Springs-Elfesmere portion of the power district. Mr H. Neavo gavo notice to move that the Board take a-public risk insurance cover. ' . . . , In his monthly report, the engineer stated that four new consumers had been connected and six additions mado to present connexions. The increase in connected leads wa? 27.9 kilowatts. In the Paparua area, about five miles and a ouarter of lino had been pegged out to serve Prebbleton. There waa now sufficient material on Mm to completo the work at Prebbleton as soon -as men were available. The foreman had been carrying on with meter mstaUationa, a total of 70 now being completed. The secretary reported that the meterresder had commenced work in tho PW* area, The total readings amounted to £l6 8s 2d. of which £l3 Us Fd had been paid.
