In replv to a request from the Belfast Cemetery Board, the Waimairi Couatv Council has made enquiries with a view to obtaining a man willing to take the position of gravedigger at Belfast. The quest was unsuccessful The matter was discussed at a meeting of the Council last night, when the chairman (Mr J. Seymour) expressed the opinion that the responsibility was on the chairman of the Board. Mr W. P. Spencer said that he had looked up the by-law and he considered the chairman of the Board was not liable. "No one is very keen to take on the job," remarked a councillor. Mr Spt-neer said that the Board had made enquiries without securing anyone. In reply to a question, he saicl that the Board had not advertised. Other members took the view that the responsi; bility must rest with the Board. It was decided to reply stating that the Council was unable to find a man for the jwsiUon.
