Our Wellington correspondent telegraphs :—News from To Anau in regard to the salmon fishing this season, is that, up to date, about three hundred .salmon have been caught at the To Anau outlet. So far there is no noticeable increase in the size of the fish. The fishing has been mainlyconiined to the outlet where the \\ aiau River starts on its course to Lake Manapouri. The Upckororo is 1 nearly dried up, and very few fish hare been caught there, and so far this season no angler had tried the Eglintnn. An employee of the Waimairi County Council was absent from duty for two weeks recently, having been isolated in connexion with a suspected case of infantile paralysis: At a meeting of the Council last niglit members agreed that the employee should be paid for the period mentioned. In the course of discussion the chairman (Mr J. Seymour) remarked that this was an instance ift Which the Council was not cohered by its insurance policy, and he expressed the opinion that if provision for such cases was Blade in insurance policies employers would not mind paying a slightly higher premium.
