ANTHRAX IN BRUSH.
A case of anthrax directly traceablo to a shaving brush, purchased at an auction mart in the city of Melbourne was reported to the Health Commission by the chairman, Dr. Robertson. Ab a consequence 49 brushes of' a similar type found among tho 6tock of two city "firms were seized by the Commission. The victim, a young man of 18, living at Surrey Hills, consulted Dr. Hoggarth, about a facial eruption which was diagnosed as anthrax. On examination at University Laboratories of the shaving brush the man had been using, it was found to contain anthrax bacilli. The brash which had been bought for Is was of imitation badger hair an 3 had an adhesive red label on its white bone handle marked "British made, guaranteed free from anthrax." All genuine British brashes have their guarantee of freedom from anthrax 6tamped into the handle and not on an adhesive label.
