THE GENERAL ELECTION.
SIR JAMES PARR'S SEAT.
(SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.")
AUCKLAND, February 9.
The selection of Mr F. E. Grigg. chairman of the Waitemata County Council, and a member of the Waitemata Electric Power Board, as the Liberal-Labour candidate for Eden, the Hon. Sir James Tarr's seat in the House of Representatives, has been made by the combined branches of the Liberal-Labour Federation in the electorate. The name of Mr Grigg is being forwarded to the Parliamentary Executive at Wellington for confirmation.
There is no foundation for a report that the chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board (Mr 11. R.-Mackenzie) may retire from his position in order to enter politics. "I am not retiring from the Harbour Board," said Mr Mackenzie, in reply to a question, "and that decision will stand, even though I decide to become a candidate for Parliament. It is probable that I may stand for Parliament, but nothing definite has yet been decided. I cannot even vet tell you what scat I may contest."
