LATE MR A. E. LOWE.
THE FUNERAL. The funeral of the late Mr -A. E. Lowe, late head gardener to the Hon. Sir B. Heaton Rhodes, took place yesterday morning. The cortege left Mr Lowe's late residence at Tai Tapu shortly after 10 a.m., for the Sydenham Cemetery. At the graveside the Rev. C. L. Wilson, vicar of Lincoln, read the burial service. Those present at the cemeterv included a good number of well-known "Christchurch horticulturists, the lato Mr liowe having gained a Dominion reputation for his study of the hybridisation of daffodils. The pall-bearers at the graveside were four of the gardeners who had been under the late Mr Lowe in the servi.ee of tsir R. Heaton Rhodes. They were Messrs H. Livington, T. Taylor, J. Christian. and C. Martin. The chief mourners were Messrs G. Lowe, son. .T. McAdo-m, son-in-law and Mrs ,T. Thomson, daughter, of the deceased. Among those who followed the funeral were: Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, Messrs T. Beadel, manager of the Otahuna estate, J. Young, curator of the Botanic Gardens; R. Nairn, J. T. Sinclair. K. C Huie, H. E. Peryman, Y. Hubbard A. G. Bull, K Tenfold, J. Fuskpll, "T. 0. Morgan, J. Gilmour, R. Macartnev, H. Smith. W. Jones, J, !■'. "Watson, G. Mangels, Miller, Armstrong and others.
