MINE MANAGERS.
EXAMINATION RESULTS. The annual examinationa under the Coal Mines Act, 1908, -were held at H-untly, Eeeiton, amd Dunedin recently. The Board of Examiners under the Act, at its animal meeting held at Wellington, on December 17th and 18th, granted the following certificates:— First-class mine managers' certificates — G. W. Lowes, aicrrijigs, Beefton, completed his examination and was also granted a firstclass mine manager's certificate. W. T. Iteid, New Lynn, Auckland, ditto. W. T. Eeid, New Lynn, Auckland, ■was granted*a pass and a first-class certificate. "W. D. Butler, of Dermiston, and James Boyd, of Hikurangi, were each granted a partial pass for a-first-class mine manager's certificate. ~-,.• R. C. Coan, of Rotowaro, completed ins examination and was granted a second-class certificate. . J. E. Pfeffer, of .Millerton, completed m» examination and -was granted a second-class certificate, subject to the production of an ambulance certificate in first aid. A. Opensbaw, of Burnett's Face, "Westport, and J. Mclrwain, Demriston, were given a frtH pass and granted a second-class mine minaireTs' certificate*. James Mofion, iurt., of Nightcaps, was given a full pass and granted a second-class mine manager's certificate, subject to tho production of an ambulance certificate in first aid. In addition, Messrs Edward Johnson, of Pukcmiro Junction; H. J. Tansey, Star Town, Himtly; T. McCormick, of Dobaort; Edward Mason, of Nightcaps; Andrew Colligan, of Nightcaps, and J. B. Burleigh, of Taiatu, were each granted partial passes for a second-class mine manager's certificate. Two other candidates were also granted partial passes for second-eJass mine managers' certificates, conditional on their gaining further mining experience.
