.; The fete in aid of the hall extension: fund ns a Brilliant success.' the sum of £341 6s Id being realised. The bazaar war held in a marquee, prettily decorated with' scarlet roses and ferns.. •;.- , :i - - " The'produca stall/in charge of Mesdames 'Smith; Chick, arid < Hand, and Miss Chick, did a, big trade,, especially.ni Christmaß puddings and cake, of which there was an excellent display. The proceeds approximately were'£67 Us.. . ■ ' ,',_.' ; At-tho jumble stall, in-charge of Jesses Dennich and Walker, a display of pretty china, -etc.j.found a:., ready .£*le. . The proceeds were £4 17s Sd. . The plain stall was in the capable bands of Mesdames Einaldi and Banks.> and they niad© £34 12s. 'This stall was particularly well equipped-'with summer frocks and dainty. • garments. ' The ladies of this district had been -working .hard, and the otall reflected great!credit upon them. The baby-fetall was •'presided over-by Mrs Thomson and,; Miss Parker,-and. consisted of daintily-made" "babies' garments, but, being 'summer' time',' the woolliest did * not appeal' to the buying public, and the'result from this stall/considering the temptinglymade garments, wa«> rather' "disappointing. The proceeds were £l3 9s 3d. The fancy stall was well laden with ©very kind of article suitable for Christmas gifts, and the' Misses Thacker,' Robinson,, Rinaldi,and Thomson had-a very busy time. The -proceeds were. £€Bf 15s. ... .The Christmas tree, in charge of MiBS Polhill, assisted by Miss Jennings, was. a source\>f delight to all,' both old and young buying freely from it. • The fishing pond * was a, great joy to all the small folk, and Miss Greig, assisted by the school children, had a strenuous time. The result from'both; was £lO 15s 6d. At the soft drinks stall, the Misses ; Hand and Macintosh, assisted by Mr E. Rinaldi, did a brisk trade, their takings amounting to £9 2s ,6d. The men's stall, in charge of Mesdames Moss and Graham, contained'both;useful and ornamental goods, and brought in'£l7 14s 9d. At the ico cream and sweets stall, the Misses Einaldi,. Edwardes, and Eaather had a busy time. Their stall had numerous wellmade baskets' on -it, and these found a ready sale. ' ; The refreshment room, under Mesdames Parker, - Reade, - Popplewell, and * the.- Misses 'Garson, Danielson, Davis,-and Thomson, was •always.crowded, and the people did justice to,the delicacies provided by the ladles of Rotherham. The proceeds were £l3*l7s-4d. Surprise packets were sold by an energetic band, of school boys and girls, "and brought in £9 10s. The art gallery caused much laughter, and was under the capable supervision of Mr •E. Roberts. . . . *o ; The pasceUstall.was in-charge of schoolboys, who attended to the work indetatigably. The school children were eapeoially worthy of praise, for one and all worked hard all day. The girls acted as waitresses and the boys washed diflb.es and were generally useful. The outside sports and eide-shcws wera well run by an energetic band of ment The latter brought in '£l7 "6s 6d. . The chief feature of the floral parade was the decorated prams, Miss Boag's swan being artistically made and well' deserving of 'a prize.- 'ln the evening-a-well attended dance was held and the results of the competitions were given out: —Shooting: Mr Hill. Na'il-driv-ing: Mr R. Smith and Mrs Moor. Stepping competition: J, Luxton. Wheelbarrow race: Keith Fo»ter. Sheaf-tossing: W. Thomson. Pillow-fight: E. I>ando. Racehorse pig: E. Rinaldi, . "Art." Weight of Sheep : Messrs Lamb, Pester, and Mies E. Robinson. Weight of pig: A. Luxton, S. Bathgate, and W. Davis equal. Weight,of calf: M. Roberts. . Cake, (presented by Mrs Luxton): Miss ! McKay'. Cushion (presented by Miss Rinaldi) : Mr A. Munro. Fancy doll: W. Thomson. ! -'"Box chocolates: • Mrs • E.~ Rinaldi. Inkstand:. Miss Jennings. • Bride doll: Helen Kathleen, Mrs* Risaldi. Water jug: Mrs Boag. Cake (presented by Mr Rogers): Mr E. Roberts. Cake (presented by' Mrs Munxo) was auctioned, and brought in £1 Us. Mr and Mrs Boag kindly lent their billiard table for a tournament, which - was keenly contested. The tournament was won by Mr Kicholls. Miss Robinson was given a special prize for being the only lady player, and . she < was in the semi-finals. Proceeds from. ; the tournament are included in the general takings.
