Tlie position is serious on account, ot so many people having booked u> travel by the steamers for tho Christ-mas holidays. (Received December 22nd. 10.10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, December -'2. In the Arbitration Court, Mr Justice Powers excluded tho Brisbane branch c£ the Seamen's Union from the benefits of the overtime clause in the seamen's award, owing to the Union s refusal to provide crews for the steamers Wyandra, Canberra, Bombala, and Cooma, but refused to grant fhc request of tho Commonwealth Steamship Owners' Association for tho deletion of the ovcrtimo clause from the award.
