FLOWER SHOW.

SPRINGSTON SOUTH. On Friday afternoon, despite the wet weaihar, Springston and Springston South held their third annual flower show in the Soldiers' Memorial Hall. The proceeds of tho show weie in aid of the Church of England and tho Springston South School funds, which -will considerably 'benefit. Daring the afternoon an apo'.ogy was received from the Hon. Sir K. Heaton Rhodes, on account of illness. The official opening was. performed by the president, Mr S. J. Keafit. Much of the success of the function was due to the energetic joint secretaries, Messrs P. V. Bailey and A. MeLeod. One of the judges. Mr Nairn, commented on the high quality of the numerous exhibits, ■which far exceeded any previous show. During the afternoon and evening brisk business was transacted by the various stallholders, and numerous competitions toot place. Those who were in charge and assisted at the various stalls were—Tea tent, Mesdames W. Schaffer, W. Kimher, L. Crump, T. Greaves, C. Garland, Misses N. Smith, and N. Pearson: sweets stall, Messrs C. Ryan, B. Huichieon, N. Calder, F. Mcßean, P. Cook, E. Keast, M. Musson, and M. Hughes; produce, Mrs G. Cook, Mrs T. Kimber, and Miss S. Smith; soft drinks, Mr W. Jackson.
