OPENING ON BOXING DAY. The box plans for the visit to Christchurch of tho company of vaudeville, which, by arrangement with J. C. Vi illiamson, Ltd., in auguratos a season of eight nights and four matinees on Boxing Day at tho Theatre Royal, open this morning at Tho Bristol, and from preliminary enquiries a big booking is anticipated, . One critic says : ' London s loss ia JNew Zealand's gain, for Bert lialton's Havana Band (from the Savoy Hotel, London), which heads the now comnany, is London's most popular jazz band, and is also the favourite dance band of the Prince of Walee. The Havana Band is probably (per medium of the gramophone), tho best known band in the world, for few homos ore without some of their jazz records. Bert Ralton is recognised in tho musical world as the most truly musical of ail dance leaders. His orchestra has reached a wonderful level of excellence, and has carved out a position in the world of music in tho leighter veinj which no other organisation ot its kind has yet occupied. London's popular soldier conjuror is Cardini. who deals a full baud of card manipulations. Hal Scot; and Connie Graham stage a ludicrous sketch, 'The Adventures of Sam K,nd Liz." The company are enjoving a wonderfully successful trip through the Dominion, and Christchurch promises to give them a great welcome.
