CATHEDRAL GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

PRIZE DISTRIBUTION. Tie annual prize-giving ceremony in connexion with the pupils of the Cathedral Grammar School, •was held in St. Margaret a College last evening, when Dean Carxington presided over a large attendance,, including members of the Cathedral Chapter, pupils, parents, and friend 9. The Bev. Stephen Parr, headmaster, reported that' the attendance had increased by five during the year, the total xo.l now standing at 62. Progress had been most satisfactory and the school was now competent to each all eubjects necessary for matriculation. The Cathedral School was the only school in New music as an ordinary subject'. Tho school had a projector for • tho showing of educational photographs, etc., and the cinema had been in use. But they found it difficult to secure a continuous supply of suitable films. The speaker reviewed the work of the school for the past year. The giving' of certificates as prize's, he said, did away with that dangerous "pot-bunting." Book prizes wore given for special classes, and certificates for the ' ordinary classes. Tho speaker concluded hy thanking all the school officials for their' work during the year. Professor J. Shelley said that a similar, epoch to the 16th century Renaissance was coming about. The Cathedral School was an "expressive school." The teachers had tho idea of creative effort firmly in their minds.

Archbishop Julius said that the Cathedral Grammar School waa taking a unique place in the Dominion.
