^ — IMPROVEMENTS PROGRESSING. The progrcES of, improvements, to tlie city parks end reserves "was reported to the City Council by the Reserves Committee . last niglit a3 follows: St. Albans Park—The portion of the park recently eown down in grass is looking very well, the grass having been cut and rolled several times. All usual work is well in hand. Linwood Park—The rough grass in this park has been cut and cleared away. I'lower beds have received the necessary attention. Linwood Nursery—The work in .connexion with the .young trees for forest planting is well advanced Woolston Park—The portion recently sown down in grass is looking well and the grass will be rolled and cut shortly. Elmwood Park—This park is in good order' v.nd all general work ia wall forward. A start will lie made shortly to put in order portion to be used for a. children's playground. The bicycle shed, which was at tlie rear of the old Council Chambers, has been removed to this park for use as a pavilion. . Beckenharn Park —The' usual grass cutting has been carried out in this park. Gpawa Park—The usual prass-cutting has also been carried out i:i this park. Spreydon Park —The grass in this park was cut- and l made into hay and sold. Most of the liay has been carted away. Bottle Lake Plantation—A further 10 cords of firewood have noon ?old at i"s 6d per cord. All the trimmings from the *rees taken out- to make firebreak l ? have been henped in the centre of the firebreaks and will bo burned as peon as pos'sible. City Reserves—All tlie small flowering ■plants"have been planted in the teds throughout the city and all general work i« we!i forward.
