It 18 understood that in the event of Hadfield being unable to meet an engagement, the Auckland and Hamilton people would trv to arrange for Paddon to come across and row Hannan. The position under the rule 3 is that if Hadfield is unable to meet Hannan and Paddon adheres to his retirement tiie world's eculling championship will nass to Hannan by "forfeit.
