ST. ANNE'S HOME.

j In response ,to* the kind invitation of the Dean and Mrs Carrington, over 2CO guests were present at a delightful garden party at the Jellicoe Hall on Wednesday afternoon. . The guests were ini vited in order to hear of the work ana. ; needs of St. Anne's Home, which were i put before them in the foftn of an j address by the Archbishop and l>eau : Carrington. | The Dean epoke very sympathetically | of the work, and emphasised the fact | that if the'public realised the great 1 need for the Home he felt confident ! that assured financial support would i he forthcoming ; he was not asking for money that afternoon, only for pro- ! mises to be-made for future help and ! support: He announced the fact that ! the offertories at the Cathedral on ! Christmas 3>ay were to be giyen to'St. I Anne's Home, and also that St. Chad si | Vestry had that day informed him that the Good Friday offertories at their | churoli were also to be allocated to St. Anne's. I He hojped that each parish in the dioI eese would form a local committee to ' interest its members in the work ©t St. Anne's Guild and to work for its advancement. The Archbishop stressed the need for the Church to undertake this special branch of Social Sep'ice. He hoped the time would come when the Guild would be in a position to extend the work in order to group the special leases that needed help.
