Tho sum of £IQPQ was set aside by the Government for. distribution in research grants, find three applications for grants made through the. Canterbury IjQtiv were approved by the New Zealand Institute. The grants were foy silvicultural study of Mt. Kgniorit Kational Psrif —J)r. If.- 41, Allan; study of Kew ZotUand Murine Algae—Ml- R. If. Itfing; the helium content of mineral springs—Dr. C. C. I'aiT. The question of au Institute building had bc-en Brought before tho Canterbury. College Board of Governors, who had informed tha council.that tho matter would coiua "VIP fpr consideration during tho reallocation of the present Boys' High School buildings A. sub-committee hi\d set up to d?al with local weather forecasts. Tho balance-sheet showed a. credit balance on the ordinary account of £9l 10s Bd. The sum of £BO 5s 2d had been expended on. the library.
