CANTERBURY COLLEGE
MEETING OF BOARD OF GOVERNORS. A meeting of the Canterbury College Board of Governors was held yesterday. Present: Mr H. D. Acland (chairman), Mise ;E. A. Chaplin, Drs. C. Chilton, J. Hight and A. J. Orchard, Messrs L. B. Wood, A. E; Flower, J. Deans, J. R. Cunningham, C. D. Hardie, G. T. Weston, C. T. Aschman, j. J. Dougall, and W. Brock.
It was" decided to accept the. Pilgrims' Association's invitation to attend the Anniversary Day celebrations. The iollowiug rocommeiidatious oi tJie High Schools and Hostels Committee were adopted:—'l hat leave of absenoe be granted to Miss D. Bone of the Girls' High School from Marcn.to December of next year to enable her to visit England and Europe. That leave of absence to the end of the' year be granted to Mr K. J. Thompson, of the Boys' High School on account of illhealth. That Mr H. S. Baverstock, M.A., at present holding a C grade position at the Boys' High School be appointed to the vacant B grade position. That Mr S. E. Cuming, 8.A., of the West Christchurch District High School be appointed to a D grade position at the Boys' High Schpol. That Miss D. M. Stewart, 8.A., be appointeu to the vacant B grade position at the Girls' High iSchool. ivice Miss Green.street resigned. That Miss Zeta Miles, B.Sc. in Home Scienpe, be appointed to a D grade position at the Girls' High School vice Miss Metcalfe resigned. That Miss E. Fairbairn, 8.A., at present holding a D grade position at the Girls' High School be appointed to a C grade position, vice Miss Iv. Edwards resigned, and that Miss M. P. Morreil; M.A., be appointed to a D grade position at the Girls' High School vice Miss Fairbairn promoted. •The Museum and Library Committee reported that the additions to the public library had been completed and it was intended to open the new wing oh December 3rd.
The following recommendations of the College Committee -were approved:— "That a proposal received from the Sydney University Extension Board to invite Sir Ernest Rutherford to give a series of lectures in Australia and NewZealand next year be approved, and that Canterbury College contribute a sum not exceeding £SO towards the expenses of the New Zealand tour, provided the three other Univereitv Colleges in New Zealand are prepared to co-operate in the matter. That Miss E. S Bowie be appointed senior library assistant for 1925 and 3l r L N Titheridge junior assistant."
