High Schools' Committee. The report of the High Schools and -lie 5 ®" teis Committee recommended that the ioj lowing resignations be accepted:— L. M. Ijaing. senior assistant master, h>o\ s High School; Miss G. Grecnstreet, assistant mistress. Girls' High School; Mi.-s 1". Metcs'i, assistant mistress, Gins High School; Miss K. P. Edwards. assista-ni mistress, Girls' High School; Mrs S. i>. Young, assistant mistress, Gins' High School; Miss 1). Brown. jamtress and swimming mistress, Girls' High School • Miss ,1. Berkeley, secretarial assistan,. Girls' High Schooi. That applications invited for an A Grade position at the Loy= High School. That applications be invited for the following positions at the High School; -—i 0 Assistant L> tirade, with special qualifications in English itnd French. (2) Assistant mist'-ess, B, C, or 1) Grade, with special qualifications in Home Science, Chemistry, and Physiology. (;i) Assistant mistress. B, C, and D Grade, with special qualifications in French. (1) Assistant mistress, B, C, or D tirade, to teach English and general Secondary Subjects. (Special qualification in Latin and Mathematics to be a recommendation).

The committee reported having asked the Minister of Education to embody in the Education Amendment Act a clause exempting the four chief centres from the provisions regarding the single control of Secondary and Technical Schools. The report was adopted.

Museum Committee. The report, of the Muse'mi and Library Committee recommended that a- letter of thanks bp sent to Mr 0. V. Hudson, of Wellington, for his donation to the Museum of a collection of New Zealand That, as the estimated minimum cost of the proposed new wing' at the Museum (£IO,OOOI is considerably in excess of the sum anticipated, tho matter be deferred for the present. Mr A. E. Flower safed that the Museum was at present in a most congested state. The committee reported having authorised that specimen work from the School of Art be sent to the Pykekohe Technical High School. Having authorised the purchase for the Museum of part of a collection of prehistoric implements. Having Authorised the closing of the reference department of the Public' Library for a few days during the removal of books to the new wing. The report was adopted. College Committee. 'lhe report of the College Committee recommended that the following regulations for the award of the Sir George Grey Scholarship be adopted:—The Scholarship shall bo open to students of the College who •have not completed their third academic vear on October Ist of the year in which the Scholarship is awarded. The i'choliirshin shall be awarded by the Professorial Board. The Scholarship shall be of the value of X'oO ior one year. The subjects of examination shali comprise not less than two more than three of those prescribed for the B.Sc. course, and at lease one of such subjects shall be taken at the advanced grade. The Scholarship shall be awarded on Iho College examinations in the subjects taken for the year of the award, with consideration of the practical work done by the candidates through their course. The scholarship shall not bo awarded unless special merit is shown. The scholar shall produce a certificate from tho professor of tho subject or •subjects he is taking, that his progress has been satisfactory, before each regular payment is made. The Scholarship shall not be tenable with any other scholarship or exhibition. Every candidate for tho Scholarship shall send notice of his candidature on the proscribed form to the Registrar of the College not later than August 10th. It was also recommended that an Engineering Exhibition of £SO, to be tenable with the British Thomson Houston Co., Rugby, England, be granted on the conditions submitted through the Professorial Board. That a bequest by the late Ivan Martinius Smith of certain foreign .bonds estimated to realise about two guineas, for the establishment of a scholarship for the study of astrology at Canterbury College, bo declined. That a proposal, received through the Professorial Board, that the names of certain practising engineers from outside the College be added to the Faculty of Engineering, 'be approved, and that the Professoriil Board be asked to submit the necessary amendments to the regulations. The committee reported having authorised the purchase by Professor Powell of equipment for the Hydraulics Department of the School of Engineering, at an approximate cost of £350. That tenders have been invited for tho installation of an atmospheric steam heating system at Canterbury College. The report was adopted.
