South Africa had as much to lose as Australia, and Australians expected South Africa, as a sister Dominion, to do more than she was doing at present to contribute to the great protective, non-aggressive institution. Senator Guthrie- added that Australians were very bitter over the Labour Government scrapping tho Singapore base in the fac? of the urgent appeal from all naval authorities, as well as from the people of Australia and New Zealand.
