TURKEY IN IRAQ.
PROTEST TO THE LEAGUE. "UTTER DISREGARD OF BRITISH RIGHTS." (BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT) 'AUSTHALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received October 14, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 15. The Turkish protest to the League of Nations is regarded in London official circles as a subtle attempt further to complicate proceedings and justify tho Turkish reply to the British memorandum. Britain is unlikely to make a counterstatement to the League. The question is not one of frontiers, but of the invasion of territory administered by Britain under a League mandate. On this point Turkey has shown an utter disregard of British rights. BRITAIN'S HONOUR WILL BE UPHELD. (eettter's TELSJIOM.) LONDON, October 14. Mr J. H. Thomas (Secretary of State for the Colonies), in a speech referring to Iraq, said that no step would be omitted to avert war, but the Government was determined to maintain the honour and prestige of Great Britain.
