Coate* '.Minister of Public Works) stated that it wa.s estimated that power would be available from the Waikaremoana scheme about 1926, and it' Gisborne wanted the power it would be expected to take 3000 k.w'n. a year. The first unit to bo established at A\ aikaremoana would bo a double one, representing 20.C0G-h.p. The. Government would erect the transmission line to a point to be mutually arranged as near the centre of gravity of "the load as possible. The cost of the current -would be: For the first 2CO lew's.. £7O: for the next 4£oo k.Ws. £S: and after that £'".
