ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS. A" meeting of passengers by the Sir George Seymour, one of the first four | ships that brought the settlers to Canterbury, -was held yesterday afternoon to discuss matters connected with this year's celebrations of Anniversary Day. The Rev. F. (J. J3rittan presfded, and Messrs E. It. "Webb and 11. L. JJowker represented the Festival Committee of the Pilgrims' Association. Mrs ChudIcigh and Mr John Anderson were the only representatives of the ship present. The chairman said the object of the meeting Mas to get representatives of tbo iSir George Seymour's passt-ngers and their descendants interested in the forthcoming anniversary celebrationis. The idea was to perpetuate the memory of the "first four ships" in a similar manner as tbo Amerians keep alivo tho memory of the Mayflower. Mr J'!. It. Webb said Professor Shelley 'a idea was to bring the first four ships prominently before tho young people, and it was proposed to bare four lorries to represent the ships. Ho gave details of the proposed programme. Mr John Anderson said he thought the programme and tbo display would make a strong appeal to tho public and arouse interest. A number of matters of detail wero discussed, including the setting up of a ladies' committee, and it was decided to adjourn the meeting to a date to be fixed later.
