SURPRISE PARTY AT CUST.
A surprise party at Oust, organised by Mr and Mrs W. O, Sail and Mr and Mrs E. Smith, was held in the granary at "Kelvin Grove," Oust, in honour of Mr and Mrs Frizzell and also their two sons, Victor and Morton, who are shortly to be married. The party proved a series of surprises. The Frizzell family arrived at Kelvin Grove expecting only a familly gathering, but found the granary filled to capacity. Dancing was indulged in to the music of Mrs J. Cowens and Miss R. Howc.s and Messrs W. O. and H. Sail. Songs were given by Mr A. Campion, and a duet by the Rev. G. Howes and Mr W. O. Sail was much appreciated. Recitations were given by Misses Joyce and P. Smith. A very pleasant time was sucnt in games till the next surprise arrived in the shape of a large basket filled with splendid gifts. This was placed in the centre of the room. The Messrs Frizzell thanked the donors, and were accorded musical honours. Mr Sail, on behalf of the residents in the locality, presented Mrs Frizzell with a beautiful fruit dish, in recognition of the many kind deeds done by her family during the years they have resided in the district. The singing of "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" brought the proceedings to a close. Those present included: Mr and Mrs W. O. Sail, Mr and Mrs E. Smith, Mr and Mrs Frizzell, Mr and Mrs Ball, Mr and Mrs J. Cowens, Rev. A. H. and Mrs Acheson, Mr and Mrs A- Campion, Mr and Mrs Weavers, Mesdames Rowe, sen., A. Rowe, Croft, 0 'Loughlin, L. Campion, Misses Garrett (Eangiora), Cook (Rangiora), Pearee, Eowe (2), Howes, O'Loughlin, Leslie, J. and P. Smith, the Rev. G. Howes, Frizzell (2), Sail (2), o'Loughlin, Croft, Leslie, Heinisch, and Howes.
