CHRISTCHURCH STOCK EXCHANGE.
dunedin. (special io "the press. ) DUNEDIN, October 3. The demand *or Becd oats has eased. Ottoringa from the country have pxactica ly ceased, and the business Pjwsuig market is practically negligible. HeavyJ Gartono are enquired for at 6s per bushel, sack 3 extra. ... . . . , Stocks of fowl wheat are steadily diminishing and tho enquiry ia good. Good whole quality ia saleable at 6s 3d per bushel, eacks Good table potatoes are in short supply, and merchants sxo experiencing some difficulty in procuring this quality. Choice lines are rea'i&ing from £7 10si to £7 153 per ton, but inferior quality lines are slow of sale. The enquiry for prime chaff is good, and as very few consignments are coming forward, prices have a firming tendency. Prime quality is selling at £8 5s to £8 10s per ton, sacks extra. Quite a good wholesale business has been passing in seedg during the paat week or two. No doubt this is partly due to the rains locally, but the bigger factor is the advanco in prices in London. It is quite ovident now that the wet summer experienced in Great Britain and parts of the Continent has caused z shortage in the clover and grass seeds harvested. There has been a strong enquiry for cowgrass, with a mark, cd advance in prico. Only super-quality seed is wanted for shipment., for which I2os per cwt is tho quotation, and at this a moderate quantity has been sold. Tho market inwhite clover closed very firm at 215s per cwt for super-seed. Dogstail hac also advanced considerably, and super bright seed is now worth lljd to Is per lb f.0.b., equal to an advance of 3d per lb cince the market opened in March. Cocksfoot has also firmed in sympathy with the hardening of the Danish market, andi the wholeselo price is now Is Id per lb. Alsyke, chiefly grown in Canada., has undergone ft substantial rise because of the prospect of a short crop Altogether the seed market. B hows a very healthy tone, and stocks are not excessive anywhere. FEILDING STOCK SALE. (FBE36 ASSOCIATION THT.rtl-K.lv } ■t'-t:ELDING-, October 3.
