FLOWER SHOW.
METHVEN. The annual Spring Flower Show, under tho auspices of the vestry of the Methven Parochial District, was held in tho Town Hall on Thursday. The attendance was large, and the entries totalled over 100 more than in any previous year. Mr Robt. Nairn, of Christchureh, was the judge in the flower section, 'while Mrs 11. McDowell (Wakanui), acted as judgei in the home industries section. Mr Nairn congratulated exhibitors on the quality of the blooms, and specially mentioned tho exhibits of Mrs Baxter, Mrs Tooley, and Mre Aitken. The silver cup for meet points in the homo industries section was won by Miss Ivy Andorson, judge m this section spoke very highly of tho class of exhibits. In addition to the show, several stalls did a good business, and added considerably to the financial success of the function. The following were m charge of the various stalls Sweets, Mrs A. 8.-vxter: pot plants and produce, Mrs Cranfield ; afternoon tea and supper, Mrs E. A. Bland. At the conclusion of the Show Mr F. B. Lloyd conducted an auction sale of surplus produce, and good prices were realised. The dutiee of secretary were ably carried out by Mr P. G. Cookson, and the success of tho show was largely duo to his efforts. Various competitions were conducted, and the winnerj were as foliows.—Gue«!ing ;ivc weight of sheep, F. PoS and D.
