BURWOOD SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Burwood School Committee was hald ill the school on Thursday evening, when tho following members were present:—Messrs J. Liggina (chairman), J. D. McKechnie, G. Robinson, J. Wilson, A. Farrar, "W. Bajnpton, H. Rowse. The treasurer reported that the gross takings from the fancy dress ball were £l7 16s 6d, while the credit balance would bo about £4. It waa decided to accept tho tennis club's offer of £lO for the yearly rent and to expend the amount on improvements to the court. The inspector's report' was read, showing that the school had reached a very high state of efficiency. It' waa decided to express the committee's thanks to the teaching staff for< their "untiring efforts on behalf of tho children. The headmaster's, report showed th©. daily .attendance to bo satisfactory, and ths work of the school tb be progreesing favourably. Messrs J. Wilson and H. Rowsa were appointed a' Visiting Cc-minittee lor the month and in conjunction with the headmaster, they - will report at the next meeting .on the cost of an extension to tlw bicycle shed. The sub-committee set up to deal with the financial position of tha swimming bath fund gave its report, and after considerable discussion, it was decided that tho funds at present available were insufficient to . warrant tho work, , and the matter was therefore K ( eld in abeyance until February next, when an effort will be made to raise a further sum.
