SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
The monthly ceilidh of the Scottish Society was held on Thursday, when a. large number of the members and friends foregathered- Chief John S. Chiahohn presided. Piper Patterson opened with a selection on the great Highland war pipe. The Chief, in. his opening remarks, said that eince the last, meeting the passing a way of Sir Thomas Mackie, Bart., had taken place, and tie audience to stand with bowed beads and folded arms whilst the piper played "The Lament." Tho late gentleman had at various times extended his liberality to tho Society by many gifts and presentations. Tho following items wero given: Pipe Band selections by the Society's Pipe Band; song 3, Miss Alice Chapman, Miss Carrie Hoare, Mes dames CaJdwell and Peave, and Mr J. 11. Stalker; piano and violin duet.. Miss Leyborne and Msater Monro; piano duet, Miss Alico Chapman and Miss Munro; recitationMaster Dave Dickson and Mr Geo. L&urenson. Dances: Miss Rosie Anderson; seann trinbhais. Miss Eileen Henry and Miss Eileen Harris; gillie caJum," Miss Joan Craig; hornpipe, Mastses Ncate and B. Bruce; Jig, Mr Trevor Ownnbell; and an oighteome peel was danced by members of the juvenile dancing class as "were Highland reels. The aceompanisteß wero Mrs B. A. Smith and Misa M. Wright.
