improvements at addengton. General entries for the Canterbury A. and P. Association's Metropolitan Show have not jet begu-n to roll in, but a numix'r of applications for space for the display of manufactures are being received. nnd several applications for pi tea for tide-shows have come to h;'.ud. In connexion with tins year's show several improvements on the Aldington shoirgrounda are in hand. The most important of these is the new entrance from. Westcnra strtet. This •*ras decided npon in order to minimise the danger to viaitore to the show by j tram -when oligbifcing from, or boarding j trams, from motor and other vehicular j traffic' in Lincoin road. The new cti- j trance is being erected a short <dis- j tanee along Westenra sweet, and five j of the turnstiles at the Lincoln road entrance are to be moved to the new j entrance. The tramway aothcritiea are I at present moving the tram-nula nearer j to the footpath on the showgrounds aide of the street. About 100 ft of i Jackson's creek, in the vicinity of the new entrance to the showgrounds, im to be piped and covered over with spoil from the tramway excavation. This will provide better access to the fat «attle section and some of the dairy sections. In the vicinity of the railway aiding four permanent holding yards we being prepared. These are for the purpose of assisting in thp loading and unloading of sheep for the November s&cw and for the Ram Fair. TTwy will be completed in time for tin afcow.
