FORGERY ALLEGED.
TWO MEN ARRESTED AFTER 14 YEARS. For a breach which ifc was alleged bad been committed 1-4 years ago, illiam Herbert Grainger and George Arthur Grainger appeared before Mr "Vyyveru Wilson, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court y e sterday afternoon, charged with having, on January l-3fch, 1910, at Cliristehurch, together with Malcolm David Jlowarth, forged the narno of W. Howarth to an authority to withdraw the sum of £lls from the Post Office Savings Bank in Christchurch, and causing one Sydney I'ope Stevens to act on the authority as if it were genuine. Chief-Dotectivc T. Gibson, who appeared for tlio police asked for a remand until October 10th. The remand was granted, bail being allowed in £IOO each and one surety of £IOO each. An application to have the names of tlio accused suppressed was reluscd.
