The committee ieported having received an anonymous donation of £ii 15s for the School of Art, which tho committee decided to expend on the purchase of hooks for the School of Art library. It was reported that the children's department of the Public Library would be closed at the end of September in preparation for the opening of the new children'* library, I and that through the cancellation of the i land tajc on the Gammack bequest, the LibI rary revenue would benefit to the extent of ) nearly £IOO each year. The cancellation had been "made retrospective for thrte years. "With regard to the Library, the report ■Mated that sixty additional books had been contributed towards the new childrcn'ft library, making a total of 204 volumes presented by the public to thia department of the Public Library. The recommendation with regard to tho Sawtell prize was approved, and the report adopted. lie College Committee in its report recommended that the music syllabus be extended next session by the addition of six lectures per week—the subjects required for music in the B.A. course (musical appreciation and history of music) to be included. The committee* reported having »»t up a special committee, consisting of the chairman of the Board, Mr J. Deans, and the Piector, to report to the Board on the question of the Government grant for forestry; 'having received a donation of several dozen bocks for the School of Engineering Jibr&ry from Mr A. Dudley Dobson: that timber tests for the State Fore«t Service -were being carried out by the School of Engineering: and having' received an invitation from the University of Brussels to eend a delegate from Canterbury College to the fif- ' tieth anniversary of the founding of the .School of Technology, and the opening of new Schools of Sciences and Technology. The recommendation was approved and the report adopted.
