Mrs Eric Harper, who was with Mrs W. N. Bond (•''Claremoitt'";. ha.-? returned to Christchurch. Mrs E. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the donor. Seven applications were received for the position of secretary (vice Mr_W. F. Evans, resigned), and Mr J. Kennedv, of Geraldine, was appointed. Mr T. D. Burnett's letter regarding an experimental farm for South Canterbury was read, and it was agreed that m -renerai meeting of the committee be held on October 7th to go fully into the proposal. WAIMATE. At the last meeting of the Borough Council, Cr. Fulton reported that the Water Supply Committee, visited the works, and, although the pressure was somewhat low, the intake box was well filled. Nevertheless, restrictions on water.would have to be made as residents outside the borough were not getting water during the day. He moved that the use of water for garden purposes be restricted. The motion was carried' unanimously. A deputation of taxi-car proprietors waited upon the Borough Council on Tuesday and requested it to reconsider the question of removing cars to Glasgow street. The new sit* s proposed was High street from the Union Bank corner to the Arcadia Theatre. After the matter had been thoroughly discussed. Cr. Gunn gave notice of motion to rescind the Council's former, decision.
