The Canterbury Steam Shipping Company has received advice that their new steamer River Weir, was ready to lea-ve England for Lyttelton, and should be on her way in the course of a Sevr days. On her arrival here, about the middlo of Koveinber, she will bo renamed Storm, and will enter the South service. The company's present stoamer Storm, will be renamed Bipa.

Tho River Wear was completed in 1921 at the yards of J. S. "White and Co., Cowe.% and is classed 10OA1 in Lloyd's Register. She is of 749 tons (cross, 300 tons nett and 800 tons dead weight capacity. Her principal dimensions are: Length 180.6 ft, breadth 29.4 ft, depth of hold lift, moulded depth 13.6 ft. She is driven triple expansion engines, loin, 26in, 41in x SOin. her machinery being situated aft. Her speed is ]oi knots and her draught is especially suited to tho Wanganui River.
