Among yesterday's arrivals at Warner's were Messrs C. J. McCarthy and W. D. Campbell (Wellington), J. Dick (Dunedin), andi Mr A. R. Guild (Temuka). Among those staying at the Clarendon Hotel aro Dr. A. Sandston, Dr. Mansell (Dunedin), Mr J. E. Cutliill (Jnvercargill), and Messrs G. Rainy (Wanganui), S. M. Somerfreld (Dunedin), and Mr Murchison (Blenheim). Among Friday's arrivals at the United Service.were Messrs A. H. Vareoo (Sydney), A. Hutchinson (Little Uiver), D. 11. Menzies and R. H. Stewart (Wellington), H. Largo (Lower Hutt), and A. Pratt (London). At yesterday's meeting of the Canterbury Education Board, Mr 11. F. Thomson, who has resigned from the headmastcrship of the Sefton School, was accorded tho Board's appreciation of his long and faithful service. Mr W. E. Leadley left for the North last evening to attend a meeting of the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Eeturned Soldiers' Association, which is to be held in the Town Hall, Wellington, during the week-end. He will return to Christchurch on Tuesday morning. . Mr V. H. Potter, M.P. for Bosk ill, was taken suddenly ill on Thursday (telegraphs our Wellington correspondent), and was not able to be in his place in the House of Representatives yesterday. Last night ho was reported to bo much, better. Mr A. Keast, who has been on the commercial staff of the "Otago Daily Times" for the past four years, and who was previously in the employ of the "Evening Star" Company, has accepted a position with a Christchurch firm. Mr Keast is a well-known cricketer, having played in the Grange and the Albion senior elevens, and at the annual meeting of the latter club last week he was elected one of the selectors-
