After a hearing lasting some days, his Honour, Mr Justico MacGregor granted a decree nisi to Arthur Blatchcr, ivho sought a divorce from his wife on thei grounds of adultery with Havdcu Algar, a well-known resident. Evidence was given that respondent and 00-resDondent. had 6tayed at tho United Service -Hotel, - • Christchurch, as Mr and Mrs Algar. His Honour, in summing up, raaxfe caustic comment on ths conduct of co-respondent, who, he said, had not gone into th© box and refuted the charges if, as alleged by counsel, they were*"false, but Tiad sat and'smiled as though the whole tiling was a variety show. Damages amounting to £2OO were granted. . A motion has been lodged for a new trial. .
