Under date of August 7th, our London correspondent writes: Police who raided the house of John Rooney, leader of the local, prohibitionists, at Dantocher, near Glasgow, discovered two secret stills and twenty-five gallons of whiskv ready for TemovaL Booney was fined £3OO, with the alternative of six months' imprisonment- .Ha is a carpenter, and was regarded as one of the moct vigorous temperance leaders in the district. He denounced drink weekly, from the platform as a "national curse." ; When'the police raided the house Booney and, a companion were found working'at the stills.
