The showed: —'Receipts :£229 i2s lid; expenditure, £V2ti 12s Id; balance to ciedit, £lO3 03 10d; balance of assets over liabilities, £260 Sis 4d.
'l'he secretary was instructed to reply 'to the circular letter ii-osi iho .Minister <il Labour \-11jii. 'U. J. Anderson), relative to a uniiorm 'yyraeiu of booJc-ltei-ping, that tiio system in' use by the Union was considered quite iiiiiub-o; ihat a, number of the suggestions made by the Minister were quite unnecessary; thai, members wished to know why trades unions had been singled out for Hppciai attention, and whether it waa the tumbler s intention to appiy the same rules lo Karmsrs 1 L'nions'and himpioycrs' Associations; thai Lc-cause a few Union eoeret-.vries had misappropriated fund a ii v,-as not sufficient icason tor assuming that all were dishonest, aid that they should bs hedged round with unnecessary restrictions; that if a person was going to bp dishonest- ail the regulations in the world would not kecT> him honest; that one had only to look at. the number of public servants convicted for stealing Government moneys, despite ..he fact I hat 'there were more regulations connected with the Public Service than anywhere eke; and that the Union was o: opinion that in-stead-of mc-.c regulations, the I.C. and A. Act shcukl. bo amended oj as to give- more freexlom to- trades unions as to bow they r.aculd i>;uiid their m;ney, and the Union incited t:;o cc-ooerction to this end.. .
